Elder Matt Boonme's Christmas letter

We received a, mailed, Christmas letter from Elder Matt Boonmee on Friday. Elder Boonmee is doing well and said "...Merry Christmas..." to everyone. He was really excited to have received goodies package we sent to him. "...I really needed it!. I am always hungry, and I can't take the food out of the cafeteria. So, thanks!...".

Now, for those who know us, our family has a habit of snacking before bedtime. Fortunately, and just in-time, he did received our package sent to him for Christmas. As mentioned in the last post, Elder Matt Boonmee, is in a Tri-Companionship, with Elder Saveage and Elder Lingard. Elder Savage is a 21 year old from Layton, Utah. He served in the US Army and was deployed in Afghanistan during his tour. Elder Lingard is very "...hilarious...", from Arizona. He's the "...whitest kid on earth. He's got great facial expressions.".

Elder Matt Boonmee loves his companions. The companionship has already taught investigators several times since he's been in the MTC. The first couple times were "...horrible...". The last time, prior to the lesson, "...I prayed and asked for guidance on the next day for our lesson. The next day, we taught the investigator and did awesome!. We made sure we could understand her, and we did! It was awesome seeing God's hand in our work. If you ask with the right heart and mind, he will help and answer your prayers. The rest of the days are just studying. So there isn't much to say. I can pray and bare my testimony in Thai. I can also have casual talk in Thai."

Elder Matt Boonmee sends his love to his friends and family. He wasn't able to send any photos due to the lack of time but promised to send them as soon as he can get them uploaded. For now, I took a picture of the doodle of himself and Elder Lingard in his letter and posted it with this message.

We received Elder Matthew Boonmee's first letter from the MTC today. He indicated that he misses everyone but "... I wouldn't miss this for the world. I love it here. It is the greatest thing on earth. Each day has a spiritual experience or it has some trials, then I receive answers to my trials the next day. My Thai is slowly coming along. I have the Prayer and my Testimony memorized in Thai. My pronunciation is good, I think the hardest part is understanding it, or catching words. It is very hard for me. We had to teach a Thai investigator on the third day, so that was really hard."

Elder Matt Boonme is in a Tri-Companionship with one elder from the Army who is 21 years old and another from Arizona (he didn't mention their names) who "... reminds me of steve martin acting in the pink panther." Elder Matt Boonmee, said he had lots of pictures but still trying to figure out how to upload them. He didn't have a lot of time today, but will have one hour on Wednesday, 25th, to try to upload the pictures. So, stay tuned!

Stopped at couple places before Matt's drop-off at the MTC yesterday. He had to report to the MTC at 12:30 PM but we had some time to hangout and grab something to eat at the University Mall in Provo, Ut.

Matt enjoyed his time, visiting with his friends this evening. It was so nice to see all of his friends at the house to see him off on his mission. Matt will be reporting to the MTC at 12:30 pm today. We will miss him. However, we know he is leaving to do the lords work in Thailand. We invite you to join us and follow him on his mission by writing and sharing your testimonies with him. We will be updating this blog to keep you informed of his work in the mission field. Thank you for being an example to him.

Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the aLord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Got up early this morning to the first snow of 2013 to take Matt to get his last immunization and do some shopping for missionary supplies.
