คุณพ่อครับ ผมมาถึงสกลนคร แต่ไม่มีอะไรที่ดูคุ้นเลย ประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศที่ ร้อนและชื้นมากครับ คุณพ่อไม่ต้องเป็นห่วงครับ ผมทราบดีว่าคนที่นี่เขารับประทานเนื้อสุนัขเพราะเพื่อนคนหนึ่งเขาลองทานมาแล้วเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา
อิกอย่าง ผมได้เจอกับเอ็ลเดอร์สมิธด้วยแหละ ( เอ็ลเดอร์สมิธ เป็นลูกชายของน้องสาวของคุณพ่อ) เขาทำป้ายต้อนรับผมว่า "เรายินดีต้อนรับเอ็ลเดอร์แม็ท บุญมี" เป็นภาษาไทย แต่ผมไม่สามารถสะกด เป็นภาษาไทยได้
ส่วนภาษาทีสกลนคร ผมก็ยังงงๆอยู่ ผมคิดว่ามันผสมอีสาน, ลาว และ ไทย ( แม่นบ่อ)
คุณพ่อไม่ต้องกังวล เกี่ยวกับอาหาร ผมพอจะเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับอาหารที่พวกเขาทานที่นี่ เพื่อนผมพาไปทานที่ ที่เขาเรียกว่า เอ็กซ์โป ที่นั่นมีอาหารไทยเยอะมาก ผมสั่งต้มยำกุ้ง แค่ $2, หรือ 60 บาท ผมทานจนเต็มอิ่ม บางครั้งเพื่อนก็พาแวะทานที่ 7/11 เนื่องจากมันง่าย อาหารก็ถูกและอร่อยอิกด้วย
เกี่ยวกับการเดินทางจาก ยูท่าห์มาประเทศไทย รวมทั้งหมด 36 ชั่วโมง ส่วน ซิสเตอร์ Black เขาขึ้นเครื่องตามเรามาหลังจากเขาหาเจอหนังสือเดินทางของเขา
ตอนมาถึงเมืองไทยผมเจอคลื่นความร้อนและความชื้นเป็นอย่างมาก ที่เมืองไทยไม่เหมือนที่ผมคิดเลย มันแปลก คนที่สนามบิน haha คิดว่าผมเป็น ( ฝรั่ง ) จากสนามบินก็เดินทางไปยังสำนักงาน ในระหว่างเดินทางผมและเพื่อน ได้พูดและเชิญชวนให้คนมาที่โบสถ์แม้ยังมีกระเป๋าเดินทางเต็มไปหมด
เมื่อมาถึงสำนักงานเราก็ด้รับ ข้อมูล, เจาะเลือด หลังจากนั้นก็ทานอาหารไทยเป็นครั้งแรก ที่สำนักงาน เขามีส้มตัม ใส่พริกตั้ง 20 เม็ดแหนะ haha เผ็ดมาก เพือนของผมแทบร้องไห้เลยแหละ จากนั้น ก็ออกไปเป็น dan jones (ออกไปดูกรุงเทพฯเป็นครั้งแรก) ตอนเย็นก็กลับมารับประทานอาหารที่ บ้านของ ประธาน หลังจากนั้นเราก็กลับไปที่ โรงแรมที่เราพักอยู่ ผมนอนหลับปุ๋ยเลย
วันรุ่งขึ้นผมและเพื่อนๆ ก็มุ่งหน้าไปยัง การประชุมโซน เพื่อรับมอบหมายหน้าที่และเพื่อนร่วมงาน เพื่อนร่วมงานของผมเขาชื่อว่าเอ็ลเดอร์ Jex เขามาจากเมืองอเมริกันฟอร์กซึ่งไม่ไกลจากบ้านเราและอิกอย่างเขายังยู่ในวงดนตรีที่ยูทาห์เหมือนกันกับผม หลังจากประชุมเราไปทานอาหาร เม็กซิกัน ที่ร้าน Que Pasaa
ที่ประชุมผมได้ทราบว่าผมจะถูกส่งไปสกลนคร, ที่นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่เพื่อนๆที่เคยยู่ที่สกลเขาบอกผมว่าทีนั่นเขาทานเนื้อสุนัข ผมคิดในใจว่า โอ้โฮ นี่ผมต้องนั่งรถบัสอิก10 ชั่วโมงด้วยรึนี่ ..โห....ชีวิตการเป็นอยู่กับ กระเป๋าเดินทาง หนึ่งสัปดาห์เต็มๆ
ผมมีความหวังว่าจะได้อยู่บ้าน ที่ดี แต่แล้วเมื่อมาถึงสกล คุณพ่อดูในภาบทีผมส่งมาซิ หนึ่งห้องนอน อยู่กัน 4 คน น่ากลัว , ฮ่าฮ่า
ที่สกลวันต่อมาเราก็มีนัดออกไปสอน 6 บทเรียน ส่วนใหญ่เป็นคนที่เอ็ลเดอร์คนอื่นเคยสอนมาแล้ว
คุณพ่อครับเน็ตมันจะตัดแล้วไว้ผมเมลมาสัปดาห์หน้า
"Nothing looks familiar at all. Thailand is hot and humid. I am in Sakon Nakhon. And I am also aware that they eat dog here, because my companion ate some last week haha. I did see Elder Smith(Elder Smith is his cousin), He made a sign for me when I walked in. It had my picture and said "We're glad to have Elder Boonmee!". In Thai though, I can't look for all of the Thai characters on this keyboard, nor can I spell in Thai. It is definitely a mix of Isan, Lao and Thai. (Man Bwoa)
Don't worry about the food. I am fully aware of what
kinds of food they have here. We eat at a place called The Expo where it
is just a huge collaboration of Thai food. And a full meal which was
Tom yum goong, was $2, or 60 baht. We eat a lot out of 7/11 because of
how cheap it is and also has a lot of really good food!
OH man where do I start.
From
Utah to Thailand we had a 36 hour trip. Sister Black made it
later that night when she got he passport back. We got to Thailand and
it was just a wave of heat and humidity. Unreal. It is weird that now we
are out in the world as missionaries. There are definitely a lot more
people that don't enjoy my presence at the airport haha. (Farangs) From
the air port to the mission office, we had already started inviting people, even
with all of our suitcases. So first we got there and got our
information, blood drawn and what not. We ate Thai food for the first
time in the mission office and had some 20 pepper som tum (papaya salad). haha, pretty
spicy for my old companions. He was crying. Then went out and did some
dan jonesing. After the night ended we got to have dinner at the mission
presidents house. OOhh man, it is such a nice house. So that shot my
perspectives pretty high. We went to the hotel where we were
staying after dinner and fell right asleep.
The next day we woke up and headed to the zone
conference to find out who our next companion would be and where we were
going. So we got there I am paired up with elder Jex, he is from American Fork and did some marching band as well. So after that we went
to a Mexican restaurant called que pasaa which is a constant tradition
after each zone conference. After I had found out that I was going to
Sakon Nakhon, A lot of people told me about the whole eating dog thing. So then I realized, I had another 10 hour bus ride to Sakon. ugh.. haha I
had to live out of a suitcase for a whole week. I came in hopes of
getting a nice home but then I saw it. One room, 4 elders. Awful, the
picture is in the other email. haha
So that day went on and we went out and had 6
lessons that day, mostly all were past investigators except one. The
whole contacting thing is so hard to do. We ask do you know about
baptism and if they want to be cleansed from sin. anyways I have to cut
it short the internet cafe is kicking me off.
Dad, Did you know an Elder Tanner when you served
because one eldetr in my district also had a dad that served here at the
same time as you.
